70's Tele Style Electric

Late 70's - Natural Maple Finish

About this listing

This is a Made In Japan Maya Tele copy. Coming as a part exchange from a valued customer we know the date to be late 70's, but hard to put a definite year on it.

The guitar is in overall very good condition and is very playable. It has set up well and been restrung, fret dressed and thoroughly serviced.

It is a nearly 50 year old instrument so shows signs of usage, but there are no serious knocks or dings to show.

We have tried to find out as much as we can about the guitar for you and have put this info below.

Maya Guitars :-

The 8097 "Tele" has a '70s-style solid maple body with the shallower upper body cutaway. And there's another hint at the instrument's 'seventies origins in the shape of its "bullet" truss adjustment on the headstock. The body is slightly thinner than a Fender Tele.

The the output jack appears on the control plate rather than on the lower edge of the body.

The pick up selector switch is a three way, similar to a Gibson switch.

The strings thread through the bridge plate rather than going through the body, 3 barrel saddles allow more accurate intonation and give the authentic Tele snap.

Who were Maya?

Maya and "El Maya" and Bambu were brand names used by a Japanese Trading Company from Kobe called Rokkoman. The Maya and "El Maya" and Bambu guitars were probably made by Chushin before Chushin entered into the Jackson guitar contract. We Accept The Following Payment Types:-
