The Versatility of Both Precision & Jazz Pickups
The Squier Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ has a versatile range of tones courtesy of its combination of P and J pickups. The bridge-position single-coil Jazz Bass pickup provides a punchy and mid-scooped tone that is ideal for rock and slap styles of playing. The middle pickup is a split-coil Precision Bass pickup which gives a mid-focussed sound to instantly provide a vintage-edge that will cut through any mix. The two pickups have an independent volume control, so you can create the ideal blend and find your own sound. Whether you want to play mid-scooped slap, powerful rock, mid-focussed funk, Motown, or more; the Affinity PJ Bass provides the versatility to cover any eventuality.
Quality Tonewoods
The Affinity Precision Bass has an alder body with a maple neck. This classic combination provides a warm and resonant sound with bright overtones and great sustain. The maple neck gives a bright snap to your tone while the laurel fingerboard provides almost identical visual and tonal properties to rosewood, helping your note articulation and giving a smooth playing surface for the left hand. The body is crafted with the Fender Precision outline, providing smooth contours in all the right places so you'll have a comfortable playing-experience whether stood up or sat down.
Smooth Playability
A maple neck gives a smooth left-hand playing feel and the "C"-shaped profile enables easy reach over all 4 strings. The fingerboard has a modern 9.5'' radius which has a slight curve and provides an even balance across the strings. The Precision Bass body has a double cutaway shape which enables effortless access to the very top frets, so when you're soloing at the "dusty end" of the neck you'll find no barriers to your playing style.
Stable Performance
A vintage-style 4-saddle bridge gives optimum transference of string vibrations to the body, giving you a resonant and sustaining sound. The 4 saddles also enable full adjustment over each string's action (height) and intonation (tuning across the fingerboard) so you'll be able to get the perfect setup for in-tune playing and a smooth action. The standard open-gear tuners are accurate and give easy tuning adjustments along with a classic aesthetic. This hardware makes the Affinity PJ bass ideal for studio use and reliable performances on stage
